Ray Nugent briefly discusses the Fine Art Appraisal process, types of items appraised, and the different reasons to have a fine art appraisal performed and certified report produced.
We recently certified the value of several hundred Residential Content items for the purpose of Estate Settlement. There was a single beneficiary with no necessity for an equitable distribution consideration. The family accountant needed the value of all of the tangible assets (residential contents), real estate value, and securities value for determination of estate tax. The contents included the residence furnishings, an automobile, recreational vehicles, farm equipment, and tools.

Common Residential Contents

The client provided to us brief descriptions of the items and digital images. The information was shared securely online. There were no items in the estate with significant value but the aggregate total exceeded $100,000. The client reduced the cost of the appraisal service by providing the necessary information and avoiding an onsite examination. At the same time, he received the USPAP compliant certified appraisal report the IRS required and his accountant requested. Are your residential contents located in an area that lacks an IRS qualified appraiser? Do you have the ability to gather digital images and brief item descriptions? Are you interested in reducing the cost of a certified appraisal? Contact Us to discuss your Residential Content appraisal need

Recently Appraised Emile Galle Vase

Decorative Art includes items that are meant to be useful as well as beautiful, as ceramics, furniture, jewelry, and textiles. Our experienced appraisers certify the value of single items, groups of items, to large collections. Contact Us to discuss your Decorative Art appraisal interest Emile Galle (1846-1904) was a French artist who worked in glass, and is considered to be one of the major forces in the French Art Nouveau movement. Galle made two distinct qualities of glass.  On the one hand his "poems in glass", masterpieces that took hours and hours of patient work to make. And on the other hand, his high quality art glass designed to be less expensive to make, but still an object of beauty, good enough to carry his signature.  This was later to develop into what is today called "industrial Galle". Recently Appraised: Emile Galle mold blown cameo glass vase with elephant and palm tree design, 15" tall. Replacement Value: $50,000+
