APPRAISER COMMENTS:

The description of this piece is somewhat misleading. This is not
an original drawing. It is an “original” print (aquatint/etching)
produced by Pablo Picasso. The subject is Dora Maar, who of Picasso’s
favorites. Dora Maar was a photographer who took photographs of
Picasso’s work. Together, the pair studied printing with Man Ray.
Picasso painted and drew Dora Maar many times. In fact, one of his most
famous pictures is of her – the abstract “two-faced” woman with a full
face and a profile. Based on comparative data for other “Dora Maar”
etching/aquatints recently sold, and considering the similarities and
differences for the condition, size, artistic merit, and age, we have
valued the subject piece as indicated.
