As accredited appraisers that adhere to a strict code of ethics we can be compensated in only two ways – fee per item appraised and fee per hour of service provided. Our hourly billing rate is $120.00 to $150.00.
The formal appraisal involves an on-site hands-on examination followed by an in-office procedure of item identification, market comparable research, valuation certification, and report production. As you can see most of the time spent on the assignment is in the appraiser’s office. We have a defined billing formula that reflects the division of time between the on-site examination and the in-office appraisal tasks. The formula is welcomed by our clients because it removes cost uncertainty and allows them to control their fee budget.
We bring to the examination a Log In/Log Out form. We note the start time and completion time. The appraisal fee is determined by the length of the examination. If it takes us more time in-office than the 2:1 formula then we absorb the additional time with no adjusted, increased cost to you.
Example: start time 10am, completion time 11am. One hour on-site at $120 plus two hours in-office (2 x $120) equates to 3 billable hours at $120 and a total appraisal fee of $360. After the first hour on-site we bill exam time in 15 minute increments. Additional travel charge may apply, if so, it will be disclosed before engagement.
We accept all major credit/debit cards, online PayPal payment, and check.
